QBE Re looks to regional expansion with Head of Africa hire

QBE Re is expanding its treaty hub for Africa with the appointment of Attilio Tornetta as Head of Africa.

Attilio will be based in Dubai and responsible for all the new treaty business incepting from 1 April onwards. He will report to Houcine Zouaoui, Head of Treaty Middle East and Africa.

He joins from MGA Fourteenzerofive where he was Lead Underwriter. Attilio brings over a decade of experience in the African market to his new role, having also held roles at Aspen Re leading Sub-Sahara African business as well as at Swiss Re.

The newly created role marks a regional expansion for the QBE Re branch in Dubai to put increased focus on the whole of continental Africa, beyond the North African region.

He will work alongside the QBE Re team in Dubai to further develop our presence in the region. Our appetite includes the selective writing of proportional multi line and bouquets as well as XOL business, offering wide range of products across property, casualty and specialty lines of business.”
