QBE launches Political Violence & Terrorism insurance in Dubai with new hire

QBE is pleased to announce the launch of Political Violence & Terrorism Insurance from its office in the Dubai International Financial Center as part of its profitable growth strategy in the Middle East & Africa region.

To lead the portfolio in the region, QBE has appointed Ali Awad as Senior Underwriter - Political Violence & Terrorism.

Ali joins QBE from Allianz in Singapore. He spent more than six years in various roles across different Allianz operations including London. Ali started his career in the insurance/reinsurance field in Zurich and has also held roles in reinsurance broking and with direct insurers.  

 In his new role, Ali will be responsible for setting up and profitably growing the political portfolio in Middle East and Africa. He will be reporting to Vladan Radakovic, Head of Property and Political Violence, QBE Insurance Middle East and will be based in DIFC.

 Abdallah Balbeisi (Senior Executive Officer, QBE Insurance Middle East) said: “As QBE continues to expand globally and regionally, the addition of Political Violence & Terrorism to our DIFC Office is a testament of our growth aspirations and our commitment to provide solutions to our clients.”

 Fouad Serhan (Head of Facultative - MEA, QBE Insurance Middle East) said: “With the launch of the Political Violence & Terrorism line of business, QBE is further expanding its facultative product line offering which complements our growth strategy in the Middle East & Africa region from the Dubai International Financial Center.”

 Vladan Radakovic (Head of Property & Political Violence, QBE Insurance Middle East) said: “Ali brings his political violence knowledge, expertise and experience to QBE. We are happy to have Ali onboard, he is a great addition to our team in the DIFC.”

The new offering forms part of QBE’s International Markets portfolio.
